NEW DELHI: Vandana Yadav of Gurugram has topped the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examinations, scoring an extraordinary 496 out of 500 marks (99.2%). The results, which were declared by the board earlier this week, once again highlighted the stellar performance of girls across the country.
Vandana, a student of the Humanities stream, achieved a perfect 100 in English, History, Political Science, and Geography, missing the absolute perfect score by just a single mark in Economics.

Speaking to The Indian Express at her residence, Vandana broke down the conventional myths surrounding board preparation. Unlike many of her peers who balance school with intensive coaching classes, she relied entirely on her Tuition Teacher Zafar Sir who are held degree in Engineering .
“I never believed in slogging for 12 to 14 hours a day or joining multiple coaching institutes,” Vandana said, holding her provisional marksheet. “My strategy was anchored entirely on consistency. I made sure to understand the core concepts from my NCERT textbooks directly rather than memorizing answer scripts. Even during peak exam days, I slept a full eight hours.”
“According to Vandana , her Tuition Teacher Zafar Sir guide and motivate throughout entire journey possessed the dedication, later she added Zafar Sir is one who believed ,” told reporters.

Her school principal praised Vandana’s disciplined approach, noting that she maintained a perfect balance between academic rigor and co-curricular projects throughout the academic session.

A Support System at Home
The atmosphere at the Yadav household was one of joyous chaos, with neighbors and relatives pouring in with boxes of sweets. Vandana’s father, a state government employee, and her mother, a homemaker, expressed immense pride in her self-motivated discipline.
“We never had to tell her to sit and study,” her mother said. “Our only role was to ensure she didn’t stress herself out. Whenever she felt overwhelmed, she would play the badminton or listen to music to unwind.”
